Summer Reading Ends

As you may have noticed, I haven’t added a new blog since the end of June.  We have been so busy at the library with all our Summer Reading Activities.  We’ve had Wii Game Nights, Chess Tournaments, and Bug Eating Contests with our Teens.  We’ve also enjoyed Craft nights, Story Times and a Visit from Binder Park ZooMobile with our Children.  The overall theme of “Bugs” was definitely a hit with our kids - we ran out of bug-related prizes and had to keep adding more!  Benny the Bookworm was found over 500 times!  Our Teens out read our adults by a huge margin: As of this writing, the teens have read a total of 73,154 pages and our adults have read a total of 39,305 pages!  And who says teenagers don’t read!  As a matter of fact, of the 12 teens that turned in page counts, only 3 are girls—this proves that boys will read if they find the right books!!

I hope everyone had fun this summer.  We had to cancel a couple of activities, but I think we still had lots of fun for everyone.  I’m already beginning to think of ideas for next year!  The main theme name is “Be Creative @ Your Library”.  It will focus on arts & music.

Again, thanks for joining us at the Camden Twp. Library for another great Summer Reading Season!
